Bellingham Washington Recreation
Bellingham is blessed with all the natural resources and facilities for those
who enjoy the outdoors. Positioned in the NW corner of Washington State we have
the lakes, oceans and mountains for you to enjoy.
Bellingham Bay in the front yard of Bellingham and provides access to the San Juan
and Canadian Gulf Islands and Georgia Straits. Your sailboat or power boat is
only minutes away from your work or home.
Mount Baker the second tallest mountain in Washington State at 10,778
feet and provides year round recreation; skiing and snow boarding in the winter and
camping, climbing and hiking in the summer. Mt Baker holds the record for the most snow
fall in the US, 1140 inches recorded in the 98/99 season.
There are over 40 miles of trails in Whatcom County to provide you access to
a natural and beautiful outdoor environment. The list of trails include;
Chuckanut Trail System, Huckleberry Point, Interurban Trail, North Lake Whatcom

The Ski to Sea race every year from Mt. Baker to Bellingham incorporates these
events; Cross Country, Downhill, Running, Biking, Canoe, Mountain Biking and Sea
Kayak. This a unique event requiring a dedicated team and it is open to all
skill levels.
